NEW YORK HEALTH & RACQUET CLUB SETTLES DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS INQUIRY


No Wrong Doing Found and No Consumer Complaints Recorded



New York, NY – January 27, 2010 – The New York Health & Racquet Club (NYHRC) is pleased to announce its compromise with the New York Department of Consumer Affairs regarding an advertising promotion that ran in March 2008 through May 2008.

At issue, NYHRC’s promotion of added value programs regarding access to a yacht, beach club & golf resort as “free.” The promotion listed “additional fees may apply” without publishing the specific fees in the advertisement.

“We regret the confusion this promotion may have caused consumers and our members,” announced Howard Brodsky, President & CEO of NYHRC. “We take pride in the fact that we have been serving our members and this city for over 38 years, and will continue to do so for many years to come.”

Brodsky continued, “I also want to thank Consumer Affairs Commissioner Jonathon Mintz for mentioning in today’s New York Daily News that his office received no complaints from our membership.”
